The history of Grupa Powen-Wafapomp SA goes back to 1908, when Wacław Brandel and Czesław Witoszyński established „Towarzystwo Komandytowe Zakładów Mechanicznych Brandel, Witoszyński i Spółka” (Brandel, Witoszyński et al Mechanical Limited Partnership Company).
The plant was developed after the World War I by the engineer Stefan Twardowski, who bought the shares from two founders in 1918, and afterwards he changed the name of the factory to „Zakłady Mechaniczne inż. Stefan Twardowski” (Stefan Twardowski Mechanical Plant).
The winning streak of the factory was interrupted by the World War II. Soon after its end, namely in 1951, the company was nationalised and it became „Warszawska Fabryka Pomp” (Warsaw Pump Factory), providing large quantities of pumps for the needs of the country being rebuilt.
At the turn of the 20th and 21st century, Warszawska Fabryka Pomp successfully underwent a process of privatisation, and is now a private company with Polish capital. On September 22, 2006 the company took over the assets of two other Polish pump factories namely „Fabryka Pomp Powen Ltd.” in Zabrze and „Fabryka Pomp Ltd.” in Świdnica.
The consolidation of three pump factories brought many advantages. On the basis of the experience of the unified companies, we have selected what is best as regards organisation, employment structure, information technology, marketing policy and logistics.
After the consolidation the company changed its name to Grupa Powen-Wafapomp SA, and is located in Warsaw, with branches in Zabrze and Świdnica. In 2009 the plant in Swidnica was closed, and all local production activity was moved to Zabrze and Warsaw.
We invite you to get acquainted with the most important moments of the history of our company, and a short historic outline of the Zabrze and Świdnica plants.
